When it comes to our products, we hold ourselves to the strictest standards. That also means that each of our products undergoes dermatological testing with the independent institute Dermatest. In addition to that, all our products are vegan and cruelty free. For us, these standards aren't just marketing tools, but they are values that are deeply rooted in our company. That is why it has been important to us from the start, to submit our products for testing with independent institutes (Cruelty Free International and Vegan Society).
With this article, we want to give you some more details about how our dermatological testing, cruelty free and vegan requirements are met.
The Leaping Bunny Programme
Cruelty Free International is the leading organisation working to end animal experiments worldwide. The Leaping Bunny Programme is regarded as the global gold standard for cruelty free cosmetics, personal care, and household products. Companies can apply for a Leaping Bunny license which enables businesses to help end animal testing globally, access an ethical market share, and achieve global recognition of their cruelty free commitment. At J’TANICALS we applied with our entire product line and have been certified. Even all our raw materials and suppliers were tested in the process. That means all our products complied with the rigorous requirements for the Cosmetic and Personal Care Products License and we are officially part of the Leaping Bunny Prgramme.
The Vegan Trademark
The Vegan Trademark is the authentic international vegan standard and is managed by The Vegan Society®. This is a registered educational charity that provides information and guidance on various aspects of veganism. The Vegan Trademark License helps users identify that a product is free from animal ingredients. We at J’TANICALS are certified by The Vegan Society, this means that our products meet the Vegan Trademark criteria.
Dermatest, an established German Institute for dermatological testing, reviewed our entire product line on sensitive skin. The principal objective of this study was to detect primary skin irritation potential or existing allergic sensitization to our products. Testing (and being certified) specifically for sensitive skin means that the results can be transferred to other, less sensitive skin types. With our J’TANICALS skincare range, we achieved the highest rating of “excellent” for all of our products.
What is the procedure?
An occlusive patch with a high concentration of our J’TANICALS products was applied to the skin of male and female test subjects. After 24, 48, and 72 hours respectively, the patch was removed, and the skin was dermatologically assessed and graded. If delayed reactions only develop 10-14 days after application, sensitization was also considered. None of the participants showed any reaction or skin disorder whatsoever to the exposure to our products.
At J’TANICALS, we care about your skin as much as we care about the way our products are produced. That is why we think it is important to mention the following here:
In the UK, the testing of cosmetics and toiletry on animals has been banned, and since 2013 across the European Union as well. Nevertheless, in big markets like China, companies are required to pay for their products to be tested on animals. This means that many companies that have been cruelty free for years have started to test their products on animals again to reach lucrative developments. You can be sure that we at J’TANICALS love all creatures. All of our products, including each raw material, were never tested on animals and thereby are cruelty free. Not a single creature should have to suffer for the fulfillment of our needs.
